Memory Care: Dementia Specialty (WA)

What To Expect

This course equips caregivers with the knowledge and practical skills to confidently support individuals living with dementia. Learners will explore how dementia affects behavior, communication, and daily functioning while developing person-centered approaches that promote dignity, safety, comfort, and quality of life. Through evidence-based strategies, caregivers will learn to respond compassionately to behavioral changes, support meaningful daily interactions, and provide respectful memory care. The curriculum aligns with the dementia care training requirements established by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS).

 

  • Module 1: Understanding Dementia
  • Module 2: Living with Dementia
  • Module 3: Person-Centered Dementia Care
  • Module 4: Supporting Daily Living
  • Module 5: Communication and Emotional Safety
  • Module 6: Behavioral Expressions

You can expect to spend anywhere from 8-10 hours completing the entire course. Upon successful completion, you will receive a Certificate of Completion, including a digital badge that recognizes your specialty. Share this badge on LinkedIn to showcase your achievement.
