This course is designed to prepare caregivers to provide safe, compassionate, and individualized support to residents experiencing memory loss. Learners will explore the foundational principles of dementia care, including cognitive changes, communication strategies, and person-centered approaches that preserve dignity and promote well-being. The course emphasizes support for daily living activities, medication assistance, and end-of-life care, while reinforcing safety protocols, abuse prevention, and emergency preparedness. Learners will demonstrate skills in managing challenging behaviors, using trauma-informed and culturally sensitive techniques to foster emotional and psychosocial support. Upon completion, learners will be able to recognize signs of cognitive decline, adjust care routines to individual needs, respond effectively to behavioral and safety concerns, and collaborate with families and care teams to ensure ethical, respectful, and responsive memory care.
What To Expect
This course is fully online, self-paced, and can be completed entirely on your phone. It contains the following modules in which you have the opportunity to retake assessments until you master your skills.
You can expect to spend anywhere from 8-12 hours completing the entire course. Upon successful completion, you will receive a digital badge indicating your specialty that is independently verifiable through Credly to share on social media.
This course does not fall under the scope of Bryan University’s accreditation with the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges.
